Here is the script of this sample answer:
A number of years ago, I saw the movie, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” which was a science-fiction story of the landing of a spacecraft from another galaxy in the United States. On board were human beings that had been taken from the Earth many years ago, who were being returned in exchange for other people who would replace them. All of the people were drawn to the spaceship by some mysterious force.
The movie focused on one particular character who seemed obsessed with either making or being attracted to a shape similar a mountain at the landing site in the western part of the U.S. He, along with hundreds of other people, began traveling to the site by car, airplane and bus. The people were all ages, with a single objective: to reach the landing site so they could board the spaceship.
When they arrive at the site, they discovered that the American government and military were already there and had taken precautions for the safety of others. Since the Americans couldn’t communicate with the aliens in English, they used notes from a composer who had developed a musical language some years ago. I can still hear the sound of those notes because they were so distinctive.
At the end of the movie, some people aboard the spaceship and it takes off. It’s never really clear where the spaceship is going and when, or if, the people will return. Yet, they’re going voluntarily, not by force.
I liked this movie because it was mysterious, unfamiliar and somewhat disturbing. It was real enough that you felt like something like this could happen to you. The acting was very good, and technically, the spaceship and all of the other special effects were very convincing. The movie also raised a lot of questions about space, the possibility of other civilizations beyond our own, and how we would treat aliens if something like this ever happened. Each time I watch the movie, I think about something new, and that’s the mark of a good movie to me.
